Kiwi ingenuity is keeping fuel spills at bay along Timaru's Port.   The Front Store and South East Resources combined their skills and supplies to build Timaru Ports second oil spill trailer unit, which is now on site for use.

Their efforts were commended by Environment Canterbury's Regional Harbourmaster and Timaru District Council.  The units include fuel containment booms and absorption pads, along with a stock of oil dispersants and are considered a great asset.  It shows the willingness of local businesses to help in any cleanup operation.  The trailer unit can also be deployed for oil or diesel spills throughout South Canterbury lakes or rivers if required.

The Front Store Division Manager, Clayton Holland, said the design was completed in-house by ANDAR Engineering Solutions and has been designed to last in the harsh coastal environment, utilising galvanised and stainless steel marine grade components.  "It's something that will last a long time because it is zinc plated and stainless steel, so its rust proof.  The trailer will remain on site at South East Resources when not being utilised around the Port.
